What it costs, all in

Two things show up on your bill:

  1. The $20 monthly program fee for the battery.
  2. Your electricity from the Solrite-approved provider. The rate averages about 14¢ per kWh including delivery (the Electricity Facts Label shows a range of about 13–15¢), plus a $9.95 monthly base charge.

There is no payment for the battery itself, no installation fee, and no loan. Leaving the electricity provider early carries a penalty, because your battery's grid work is what funds the discounted rate. Michael walks you through the agreement and the Electricity Facts Label (EFL) before you sign.

For comparison: buying this much battery storage outright usually costs $20,000 to $40,000. Rates, fees and terms are set by Solrite and the electricity provider; the current EFL and agreement control.

How Solrite can charge so little

Your battery joins a virtual power plant. When the Texas grid is short on power, Solrite sends short bursts of stored energy from many batteries at once (usually 30 seconds to 5 minutes). The grid pays for that help, and that money covers the equipment and funds your discounted rate.

A reserve is always kept for your home. Before severe weather, storm mode charges the battery full.

1:1 credit: when Solrite sends your battery's energy to the grid, you get a bill credit at the same per-kWh rate you pay, including per-kWh delivery. This applies to Solrite-directed battery exports, not to solar sent straight to the grid.

Who qualifies

Why solar owners sign up

Many Texas solar owners now pay two bills: the solar loan and an electric bill. Their panels make extra power in the afternoon, the provider pays only a few cents for it, and at night they buy power back at full price. The battery saves that afternoon solar for the evening. Common questions

Is Watt Hero part of Solrite?

No. Watt Hero is an independent, Authorized Solrite Dealer. We help you check eligibility and enroll; Solrite owns and services the batteries.

Will Solrite drain my battery before a storm?

No. Dispatches are short and a reserve is always kept for backup. Before severe weather, storm mode prioritizes a full charge.

What happens in an outage?

Your home can run on the stored energy. How long depends on how much power your home uses and on the system design.

What if I sell my house?

The agreement transfers with the home. Solrite works with the buyer's lender to make the transfer clean.

Do I need to replace my solar panels?

No. The battery is added to the solar you already have. Michael checks that your system is a fit.
