Base Power vs Solrite: $0 upfront vs a $695 install fee
Base Power and Solrite both put a battery at your home that they own, and both pair it with an electricity plan. The differences are in battery size, the upfront fee, the contract and what it costs to leave. Here they are side by side, with each company's own documents linked below.
- $0 vs $695–$995 to start. Solrite has no upfront cost and no installation fee. Base charges a one-time install fee.
- More battery for about the same monthly fee. Up to 60 kWh for $20/mo, vs 39.2 kWh for $19/mo with one Base Core.
- Service for 20 years, no cancel fee for the battery. Base's battery agreement is 12 years with a $500 fee to cancel early.

What the differences mean
Upfront cost
Solrite is $0 to get started. Base charges a one-time install fee of $695 or $995.
Battery size for the money
For about the same monthly fee ($20 vs $19), Solrite installs up to 60 kWh; one Base Core is 39.2 kWh. Base's two-battery plan (78.4 kWh) is $29 a month plus the $995 install fee.
How long you're committed
Solrite's agreement is 20 years and covers service for the whole term. Base's battery agreement is 12 years, with a $500 fee to cancel early. Longer can be good (service covered longer) or not (a longer commitment). Read both agreements.
Where Base may fit better
If your solar is leased or on a PPA, or your home is on a co-op Base serves, Base may be an option where Solrite isn't yet.
Which one costs less for your home?
It depends on how much power you use, how much solar you export and your utility. The fair way to compare: add the monthly battery fee to the electricity cost at your usage, then add any upfront fee spread over the years you'll stay. Upload your bill and Michael will run the Solrite side for your home.
